Common Terms & Definitions

Use this glossary to quickly find clear, easy-to-understand definitions of key terms used in peptide research and laboratory science.

There are 20 standard amino acids. The order in which they are linked (the sequence) determines a peptide’s structure and how it behaves in a research setting.

Bioavailability is usually expressed as a percentage and can be influenced by factors such as stability, solubility and the research model being used.

Half-life is commonly reported in research literature to describe how long a compound remains measurable. Values can differ significantly between peptides and study conditions.

Most research peptides are supplied as a lyophilized (dry) powder or cake inside a sealed vial, which helps protect them during shipping and storage.

Peptides are generally defined as chains of roughly 2 to 50 amino acids. Longer chains are typically classified as proteins.

Purity is commonly measured using HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography), often alongside mass spectrometry to confirm the peptide’s identity.

Reconstitution should always follow the instructions supplied with the specific product. Once reconstituted, a peptide’s storage requirements and stability can change.

All Alpha Strong Peptides products are sold for research use only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and are not for human or animal use.

Heat, light, moisture and repeated temperature changes are common factors that can reduce stability over time.

See our Storage Instructions page for general guidelines, and always follow the storage information supplied with each product.
